Choice (values)

Life is lived by a certain basic set of values that makes life better to live. Living life by a basic set of values makes life fulfilling, happy, and successful. Values can be defined as broad preferences concerning appropriate courses of action or outcomes. As such, values reflect a person’s sense of right and wrong or what “ought” to be. “Equal rights for all” and “People should be treated with respect and dignity” are representative of values. Values tend to influence attitudes and behavior. Life values starts with respect for all people in life. Respect is a good value to h life. Honesty is an important attribute because it is one of the ways that people judge me. To live life with these two basic values are how people learn to care and respect the value of all people.

Treating other people as I want to be treated is another basic value. Life must be lived by a set of basic human values in life today. Living life with respect and value sets is another basic value. Life comes with value to be treated as a person. Respecting the basic rights of all people to live as they choose is a common basic human value to live by.

Respecting people can bring me a long way just by treating people how I like to be treated. The way I shows respect varies, but its essence is the display of regard for the worth of people, including myself. I have no ethical duty to hold all people in high esteem or admire them, but I feel like I am morally obligated to treat everyone with respect, regardless of who they are and what they have done. I have a responsibility to be the best I can be in all situations, even when dealing with rude people.

Honesty is important so that people will believe what I say. If I am known to be honest about all things, then, when I tell someone something they are more apt to believe I. Being known as an honest person is one of the highest honors I can achieve in my life time.  If I cannot be considered as being honest I won’t have good friends.

Honesty leads to trust and credibility. Indeed, one cannot trust another deeply without believing that the interaction between them will be carried on at a high level of honesty. Honest behavior also enhances reputation. However, just as the difference between true and false cannot be blurred by circumstances, honesty should not be chosen according to circumstance.

Choice (Process driving)

Before learning or having any type of experience in driving, will have to learn and remember the steps , rules and regulations- in most of which reading the drivers ed book/ manual. First, locate one of the Department of Motor Vehicle offices and pick up an manual. This manual is the key to learning and knowing all the questions on the permit part of the test which are multiple/short answer questions. Second, after taking your permit at the DMV you will find out that same day in whether you passed or failed. You will have three tries to pass the test with at least a 70 or higher. After passing that part of the steps in which to receive a driver’s license, its best to schedule your five hour course after being issued that you have completed the class for five hours. Third, after attending that class try and schedule a driving lesson with your choice of school, which they will help you to do better and even tell you what needs to be improved. Finally, after attending a couple of courses you should be able to become more confident in passing your road test. When that day comes you will need an insured vehicle, your permit, and an inspected vehicle that passes the standards to the safety policies in driving an operated vehicle. In the end if your that good the teacher will tell you in whether you scored in the range you would have to meet and, then if you passed they will give you a temporary license and if you haven’t met those requirements you be able two more attempts in receiving your license just as if passing your permit.

Choice (Divorces)

A story from “The River Reader”
Divorces

To me divorce is a failure because reading these two stories really made me think that the only way that she failed during her marriage was because her mom failed to leave her father for his wrong doing, so when she grew up to be a mother herself she felt as if she was going through the same thing and, so she left her husband because he too was not a good man.  She also didn’t want her daughter to feel trapped or become a failure like she did. Being or going through a divorce is a failure because you and your partner agreed during your vows that you would for ever trust and love each other etc. that shows that the couple was never meant to be and they were dishonest. During a divorce I think its often one person that doesn’t see fit in the relationship for them to stay or work it out. But situations like this in The Tale of two Divorces the writers one that was, and one that was not one wasn’t getting treated fairly. Well both weren’t but one just saw that it was time to go while the other stayed an didn’t get the chance to live happily ever after because she decided to stay in that horrible marriage and she thought that what she saw was that he loved her, and that’s what she called love which was not. After living all those years your mind starts to think that the only way you’re being treated that way was because, one or he/she either loved you, or he was just having a bad day which it shouldn’t be like that on a daily basis. But one thing is, is that you should never feel like it was your fault or you’re not the one for anyone because in the end everyone deserves to be happy and loved.

If I won one million dollars

If I won a million dollars, I would pass out. Well first and for most I would give to my heavenly father. A tax free million makes a major difference in how I would spend it. I would think of my children’s future like school, retirement and back up funds. I would also keep in mind charities benefiting the less fortunate.
I would send my son to the 4 corners of the United States then to other countries they would like to visit that they would not be able to visit. I would put away money for my retirement. I give my son the opportunity to go to the best colleges in the world like Harvard, Yale or even another country.
I would help out my people in my community  out by buying them a brand new home with no worries of money. I would start a company to help out disadvantage women and children who have lost their way in life. I would help out with charities to help people who have been affected by the hurricanes and natural disasters.
I would also pay off al of my children’s debt.  Along with helping out my children I would open a soup kitchen to feed the less fortunate. I would also help out people from all over the country of. It is a country where a lot of people need help and I would help build homes and shelter for people.
Finally, I would go on a shopping spree buying a whole lot of clothes and sneakers. I would buy my boyfriend his dream car along with my dream car and house. I would get a savings bond for my son so he could live a better life.

Unforgettable moment

When I was like ten years old, my best friend & I went to the park. And we were going down the slide on wax paper (so we could go down faster) and my friend's piece of wax paper blew away. So she's chasing it and running down this big hill bent over and waving her arms around to try and catch it. And it was so hilarious that I peed my pants. So we're on our way back to my house and my mom's cousin (who I barely knew) happened to show up at the park with her little girl and she wanted us to play with her kid. And I'm like, ummmm, no, we can't, and trying to hide my peed-in pants

Teen Curfew

While few people would argue that children should be free to wander the streets aimlessly after midnight, the actual benefits of the law are at best dubious. Police reported that their enforcement was lax, and officials cannot prove the curfew actually reduced juvenile crime or victimization. If cases are typical, they suggest that the law has little effect. And by focusing on the curfew, officials and residents may be blinding themselves to real solutions to the juvenile crime problem. Most of the crimes do not occur during the hours the curfew is in effect. The law set curfew hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Instead of restricting children's nighttime access to public streets, parks, basketball courts and movie theaters, officials and community leaders should encourage young people to visit those places and engage in activities that occupy them and give them reasons not to commit crimes by day or night. Curfew laws and similar measures, such as trying ever-younger children as adults, are easy to pass and cheap to implement. They may also impress voters and comfort residents and touristsbut the comfort is a false one. The only way to stop juvenile crime is to attack its real causes. Being young and out late at night is not among them.

Do College Students need Spring Break?

If you are an average worker, you work 40 hours per week. If you are an extraordinary worker working for someone else and seeking extra money or a promotion, you probably work 50 hours per week. If you are a successful entrepreneur, you are probably working in or thinking about your business 60+ hours a week.
Average worker, extraordinary worker, entrepreneur – YOU WORK.  Now, how about our country’s future leaders, our college students… The average number of classes that college students USED to take was five courses.
Now, if you factor that many college students are taking a fifth year to graduate, the average number of classes would slip to four courses. But, let’s be nice and say that the average college student takes five classes that meet for one hour twice a week or ten hours of classes a week. Now, sixty percent of college students REPORT [they say] that they spend 15 hours a week OR LESS studying.
So, again to be nice, that’s ten hours in class plus fifteen hours studying which totals 25 hours per week enmeshed in the work of academia. Bottom line: The majority of college students work HALF as hard as extraordinary workers.  BUT, that’s the future …. Let’s party now ….
Forget all those boring mean spirited statistics about college students being lazy.  Forget all the partying that college students do in the 143 hours EVERY week that they aren’t studying or in class. It’s time to head south, Baby !!! What can I say but get ready for Girls Gone Wild and S-P-R-I-N-G … B-R-E-A-K !!!
BLAST that music, Baby !!! It’s time for wet t-shirts and trashing motel rooms.  It’s time for rufies and bongs and jello shots.  It’s time for some serious alcohol poisoning.
Parents, not to worry, the average male college student ONLY consumes 15 alcoholic beverages on a typical day at Spring Break and your Princess is content with ONLY 10 drinks. Don’t worry, Dad, whatever happens on Spring Break stays on Spring Break.  Your precious Little Samantha will tell you that sleeping with Marcus, the towel boy at the hotel, was a one night fling and she’s almost, pretty, kinda, sure that he wore a condom, she thinks.  “But, Daddy, after ten belly shots, you can’t really blame me.” Here are a few statistics that college students should bear in mind for the NEAR future …
30% of you will drift from job to job making a marginal living.  You will be VERY unhappy. 50% of you will get jobs but will be required to work harder with less compensation than past generations.  You will be AVERAGE. You will be just AVERAGE unhappy.

Weight Loss Plan

A man calls a company and orders their 5-day, 10 lb. weight loss program.
The next day, there's a knock on the door and there stands before him a voluptuous, athletic, 19 year old babe dressed in nothing but a pair of Nike running shoes and a sign around her neck.
She introduces herself as a representative of the weight loss company. The sign reads, "If you can catch me, you can have me." Without a second thought, he takes off after her. A few miles later huffing and puffing, he finally gives up.
The same girl shows up for the next four days and the same thing happens. On the fifth day, he weighs himself and is delighted to find he has lost 10 lbs. as promised. He calls the company and orders their 5-day/20 pound program. The next day there's a knock at the door and there stands the most stunning and beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. She is wearing nothing but Reebok running shoes and a sign around her neck that reads, "If you catch me you can have me." Well, he's out the door after her like a shot. This girl is in excellent shape and he does his best, but no such luck. So for the next four days, the same routine happens with him gradually getting in better and better shape. Much to his delight on the fifth day when he weighs himself, he discovers that he has lost another 20 lbs. as promised.
He decides to go for broke and calls the company to order the 7-day/50 pound program. "Are you sure?" asks the representative on the phone. "This is our most rigorous program." "Absolutely," he replies, "I haven't felt this good in years."
The next day there's a knock at the door; and when he opens it he finds a huge muscular guy standing there wearing nothing but pink running shoes and a sign around his neck that reads,"If I catch you, you are mine!!!"

He lost 63 pounds that week.

Two sentences from a Classmate

" A friend, not long ago told me that "God never gives us more than we can carry..." and I felt that I HAD to be strong, not just for my mother but for everyone, and most importantly to honor my Father's memory. He was not expressive with emotion. I think I saw him cry once, maybe twice. I spent much of my life growing up wanting to hear him say he was proud of me. I don't recall that he ever did, but we loved one another and reached a place of mutual respect. I figure I can't ask for a lot more." By Joe Nairn

I chose these parts of Joe's blog because I kind of felt like I could relate to them in some kind of way. He was right whe he said God never gives us more than we can carry so what God did for me was take my father away from me and decided that he was nothing but trying to bring negativity around my life, like wishing that I never should of had a son, but who thinks that way when he was already here. My father never accepted my son and still doesnt talk to me this day, but I dont care because Im going to be a strong woman with or without him in my life. And the whole thing about my father giving me recognition never exsisted, but I know that in the back of his mind he wants to tell me how proud he is of me raising my son alone, attending college, and working to get what I want I life.

Poverty Rises

Poverty Rate Continues to Climb

My response to poverty news stories about the climb of poverty rate that continues in Rochester, is that it is sad to see how our community/ city has increased on how many people are really poor, or don’t have jobs to support their families. Looking at the percentage being 3.7percent really caught my eye. I wondered how this rate could be so high.  Well I thought knowing how much money the United States has been spending on the war, and how high the gas, and food prices has caused most of this crisis for many families. My opinion about all this is crazy how and could such a city become so poor and jobless? I thank the wealthy people and New York State officials on not helping these people in our community. People that are wealthy are terrible. People like that could be helping, and contributing to not only this community but to a lot of people in need, like  places like Action for a better community that help people who are in need of homes, jobs, and money. Thinking about how over crowded and unsanitary places we have our families. Especially in places like shelters, and the streets because they have no where to turn too. Because of this crime rates have increased as well. Not only do we have families out on streets but felons who were convicted but served there time and are now turning to the major streets where poverty is taking place, reason being that there not able to maintain or get a job because of there background. But as for places and little organizations like action for a better community has really touched me in a way of knowing that it is time to make a difference and help out.  Always remember don’t ever take anything for granted, be satisfied with what you have because knowing that there is someone out there that doesn’t have what you have, but will be happy to have what you have.

How to Get Ready For Summer

1. Sunblock, sunblock, sunblock.
You already knew it was coming, but it bears repeating: get yourself some sunblock. If you’re planning to use that tube you got last year, remember that sunblock expires, so check the date on your bottle. Generally, if it’s past two years old, its effectiveness may be weaker, and may even cause irritation on some people. When buying new sunblock, if you can’t find the exp date, use a sharpie to write when you bought it. Don’t forget to buy sunblock moisturizer for your face — they’re popping up at cosmetics counters everywhere this month!

2. Protect your precious face with vitamin C powder.
These little vials of orange dust are becoming more common in spas everywhere. (Vitamin C is also available in liquid form, but powder is more potent.) Mix in a small amount with your daily moisturizer to protect against everyday environmental (sun) attacks, as well as brighten and even out skin.

3. Take care of your hair.
For girls, you may want to start shaving (or preferred hair removal) your legs more often, bikini line, and so on. For guys, you may want to shave, wax, or whatever method your prefer for hair removal, to your stomach, chest and back. I know a lot of men do not agree with that, it is all in preference.

4. Get your body looking great.
Shorts, sandals, skirts, sarongs, tanks, dresses, bathing suits… with clothing that simply reveals more, it’s time for general maintenance on your body! Double check your feet for neat looking toes and clean skin. Break away from the cold-weather comfort food and reach for chilled veggies, and take advantage of in-season fruits! Maybe the hot summer weather will provide the perfect reason to try out a shorter haircut — we know the boys do it every year!

5. Update your iPod.
If there’s anything that preps you best for summer, it’ll be the jams you play for dancing, tanning, and driving…

DRUNK DRIVING

Almost half of the car accidents involving teenagers are single vehicle crashes. This means most teen car accidents happen because the teenagers simply made bad driving judgments. Sadly, a lot of car accidents involving teenagers include alcohol. Almost 60% of fatal teen car crashes are because of drunk driving accidents. Statistics have shown time and time again that the number of car accidents involving teenagers increase with each additional passenger.
The very young and the very old are much more likely to be involved in accidents. Car accidents are currently the number one killer of people ages 1 to 37. About 1 in 30 young drivers will be injured in an accident each year. Young drivers are four times more likely to die in car accidents and are much more likely to speed, drive recklessly, not wear their seat belts and drink and drive than middle-aged drivers. If we could reduce these dangerous behaviors, we could prevent these needless deaths and injuries.
Most car accidents are entirely preventable. Drivers are most likely distracted, tired or possibly drunk. Some of the most common distractions are talking to others in the vehicle or talking on the cell phone, eating or drinking, playing with the radio or CD, and so on. All of these distractions could be easily avoided if people were to see how dangerous distractions can be when you are not entirely focused on your driving.
People should also be careful not to drive if they are feeling sleepy or even slightly intoxicated, since lack of sleep can often reduce your response time as much as slight intoxication and increase the chance of an accident. It is also important that people avoid driving when there is rain, snow, or heavy fog, unless necessary. It is also not a good idea to drive between 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. (particularly on Friday and Saturday nights) for these are the most dangerous hours to drive in the week and should be avoided because of drunk driving.

One of my true loves(Choice)

Softball is an important means for people to form and maintain strong friendships that might otherwise not exist. These social bonds between players are so strong that many describe them in familial, kinship terms – 'my sisterhood' or 'my family'. 'Softball friends' are different from friends in other areas of life. Something special is shared and exchanged by them. Over half of all Softball players feel that being a part of the team is like having a long-term boyfriend. Softball plays a key role in family life, linking the shared experiences of family members across generations and creating a lasting sense of tradition and belonging. Most women become athlete because their mother or father would take them to matches as a child, and many older fans still retain strong memories of these formative experiences. While there are strong rivalries between fans at local and national levels, the striking feature of the research is the high degree to which Softball unites people from varied backgrounds and undoubtedly beyond.

I need a place where I can go, mentally and emotionally, and forget about all the crap, that is reality, at this moment. Softball is that bastion for me; it's not just Softball, either. It's the game of Softball that I so dearly love. But, to immerse myself into Softball, at what is supposed to be its purest level (the high school level), is what I ultimately prefer. The young women growing and maturing... the parents having a sense of pride in what their young woman is accomplishing... school pride... District bragging rights... State Championships... honor, respect and duty to one's teammates... all of this is what I love about Softball. All of this pays huge dividends later on in life and high school Softball helps forge great men. That's why I love it.

Determined

Determination is the act of coming to a decision or creating a purpose.  Determination takes a huge factor in my life because my mother is from  Puerto Rico and my father is  from Dominican Republic. They both came to America with nothing literally they both stayed with a friend until they were able to live on their own. My father worked at McDonalds as a janitor until he saved up enough money so he could invest in property with his friend. Once he invested his money in to property he quit his job and he put all of his time and effort in to the investment. The time and effort spent was worth it, his business started becoming profitable. Then he invested in more property and made his living from his investments.
When my mother first came to America she was a under the table maid, she washed peoples clothes, she cooked cleaned and baby sat. She did enough to provide for her three daughters. We lived in a two bedroom apartment with three girls to a room and my mother and father shared a room. My mother and father were never married but my father was always there when we all were younger. My mother took on all duties of mom and dad; she did everything she could to provide for us.  The struggles my mother and father faced after coming to America encourages me to take advantage of all opportunities that provided for me.
My mother had paved a way for me to be successful with her determination to provide a better life for her children. I think about the things my mother has done and I am determined to be everything my mother believes I could be. Also, I refuse to be another statistic, for example another Hispanic young mother having a family of my own, I can not provide for, or another young mother not attending college.
Synonyms for this word may include. decision, judgment, measurement, opinion, perception, purpose, resolution, resolve, result, settlement, solution, verdict, visualization. Judgment is defined as decision about blame. Determination is related to judgment because in both you have to come to a decision. Measurement is defined as analysis, the relation in both terms you have to analyze what is placed in front of you. Opinion and determination is both based on beliefs. Perception is defined as coming to a decision. Through determination one has to come to a final decision. Result is defined as an effect brought about by something. Determination you have to come to a result which was affected by earlier action. Settlement is defined as a conclusion. Determination you must have a conclusion to your decision.

Reasons why family is important.

I do not really give my family enough praise but my family means the world to me. Today I am going to talk about the many ways why family is important.  First, strong families have commitment. The membership of each family member is recognized and valued. Family members are committed to help each other succeed and there is an attitude of "one for all, and all for one." In short, there is loyalty to the family and family life is a priority.
Second, strong families express appreciation. Appreciation is one of the deepest human needs. We all want our efforts recognized and appreciated. Strong families make a habit of expressing gratitude. They look for the good in one another and openly acknowledge it when it is found. They celebrate their successes. In strong families, communication is positive and compliments are common.
Third, strong families spend time together. Although quality time is important, so is quantity time. Strong families do things together and do them often. They enjoy the time they spend with their families. They eat together, play together, and work together. Frequently they choose family activities over other non-family activities. This abundance of time together helps them develop an abundance of shared experiences and memories that unite and strengthen them.
Finally, strong families develop spiritually and mentally. For many families, their faith community becomes a second family that provides extra support. A spiritual connection can also provide purpose, direction, and perspective.

Why i wear shoes?

Connie Perez

Why I wear shoes? That’s a good question… I wear shoes because of course I want to protect my feet from all the dangerous things people throw around the world which is basically the littering they can not control. When people litter there could be many different things that your body can catch like diseases, second degree burning from the sun in the summer, and maybe even walking on stony roads which would really hurt. Those things can become harmful to not just our feet but our bodies. For example, in the winter if we decided to not wear shoes or if every store just stopped selling any type of foot wear in the winter what would happen? Our feet would become frozen, and we would die from hypothermia. And we also wear shoes because of all the other weather changing in this world which has been horrible in the last past few years. What I don’t understand is where the whole shoe thing came from, when Adam and Eve never had shoes to being with. Lol. Yes, going back that far really would change what people think, which that is that they need to realize how very fortunate they are to have something like shoes. Now imagine for a second what would the world be without any foot wear.

Week 5 Choice (School)

College is significantly different from the public high school lifestyle in many different ways. As a college student I noticed that there are many adjustments that I had to make compared to high school. Decision making process has to be well thought out because I am responsible for everything in school. High school didn’t involve as many decisions as college does and that’s what makes them different.
High school and college has similar support systems that are used differently because of there importance. Responsibility plays a huge factor in college where in high school most of my choices are heavily assisted with by counselors or teachers. As a college student I also get help from an advisor but the courses I take are all according to my major. I am responsible for choosing the best possible courses to give me the most information needed to help with the career I plan to pursue. I have plenty of classes that I can choose from but I have to pick what I think is most efficient. High school is the beginning stage that helps me get an idea on what I would or wouldn’t want to do. Where college teaches independence and I have to do research to be put in situations that are going to be beneficial for me in the long run.
Teachers in high school are lenient but college professors enforce independent learning for students. Although, both college and high school have support from the teachers and tutors it’s not as easy to get help. In high school teachers would stay after school with me or on their lunch break. In college, I have to work around the teachers schedule to get extra help. As a high school student I had my mom nagging me to get to school but that word of advice isn’t in college as much it was at home. Sometimes college teaches students to put forth effort and work hard to get assignments done and get a better understanding of the subject is. I have learned from my past experiences in high school that college isn’t as I thought it would be.

Why go to School?

Going because it’s conventional. You shouldn’t be afraid that not going to school will make you an outcast, or that not going to college will ruin your chance to get a job. If you are a truly ambitious and intelligent person, school will not cause you to succeed. It may help, true – however school can be much more detrimental to a person’s creativity.

Going because you are afraid. Afraid of what? Not becoming someone society wants you to become? Shaming your parents? Shaming yourself? Perhaps I am stating the obvious, but you should never do something out of fear. If you are going to school because you are afraid of what will happen if you don’t go, you ought to try not going. Maybe you will discover something about yourself that you didn’t know before.

Going because you don’t have anywhere else to go. If your life is so mundane and empty that you go to school to fill that hole you have… well, that’s just sad. You should really get some hobbies, some more friends, or have some interesting experiences (vacations or day-trips). There is more to your personality than school, and you are more of an individual than just a student.

Going because there is something worth learning. Classes are informative and if you actually enjoy the subject, then definitely go learn! Learning is a wonderful thing, just don’t depend on school for it. There is a lot of learning that can be done outside of a classroom.

The Saddest Day of Joe Bob Rainey.

The Saddest Day of Joe Bob Rainey
Once upon a Joe Bob Rainey, there he was Joe himself driving one of the school buses for the Small Ville city school district. One morning when Joe had his usual route of picking up the children for Sunnyside elementary, his last stop was the stop of Little Billy’s on the most horrible street ever. Billy would have to stand on the corner of the main road which had many drug dealers, gang affiliations, and much more. When Joe finally got to his stop there were a mob of them hovering over Billy as if they were planning on robbing him, yes a little boy. In that neighborhood people didn’t care how old you were you were just an average person with another dime in your pocket, and that’s what people were willing to take. So when Joe the bus driver seen Billy surrounded, Joe put the bus in park and stepped off the bus. After Joe stepped off the bus every one stepped back from surrounding Billy and looked at Joe like what the hell was he thinking, he has balls to step up to all these people. Finally Joe told Little Billy to get on the bus and wait until he got back on to make sure it was ok. So then as Billy said ok the first thing that was said was “hey why don’t you guys pick on someone your own size”, after that they looked at Joe with despise and asked him “what did you say”, and Joe said you heard me. And then after that all Joe could see is shiny little stars around him, and hear all the little children crying for there mommy’s and daddy’s.

Choice of Topic( My Son)

Almost two years since I had my son Xaviel, my life has changed tremendously. He is one of the most important people in my life, I adore him very much. He is energetic, fun to be around, funny, and the most outgoing person I’ve ever been connected to. Xaviel learns quickly and works within the most efficient way possible, he’s very smart for his age and helps me a lot, sometimes he thinks that he could help me out with everything like, my homework, cooking his favorite meal which is rice or Mac and cheese, sometimes he thinks he could even help me drive by telling me where to turn or even when to stop. He’s hilarious. As far as helping me stay happy and motivated. He is a great influence in my life, and expresses his love for me, by giving me all the kisses possible. I never knew how much a toddler would learn so fast and how smart they actually think. I say toddlers are like adults they just don’t know how to speak what’s on their minds they just show actions. But for the most part I know what he means, and wants. Learning from experience of being a teenage mom has been very helpful to me especially to have such a talented son like mine. Over the years I hope to see Xaviel succeed in life as well as accomplish all his future goals he intends to accomplish. He has grown into my little poopoo as I call him. I know when he grows a little older he’s going to be embarrassed and tell me to not call him that anymore, but I know that ill be that mom to do it anyway. Lol.

Blog Review: Leave me Alone

Well after actually finding out what a blog review was I started to look at a couple of peoples blogs from class and I so happened to view Krista's and her topic was "Leave me Alone". I read through it and finally got the understanding of what she was talking about I can some what relate to her because to me it seems were in the same predicament with the whole car issue, and not having a reliable car or just not having one period like me. But anyway let’s get back to Krista.
Krista said “why does everyone have to be on my case about everything! I am 22 years old and most of the time I feel like I am 2 yrs old. I am told I need to buy a car by the end of the month.....I am told that I should take out a student loan to get said car. I am told that I should look for a car. I am told that I should look on craigslist…Then I am told to not look on craigslist. I am told that I shouldn’t go see a car I find because I don’t have my money and wont until hopefully Feb. 25th.  I am told I am not putting any effort towards finding a car. I am told I should get a specific car. I am told that I will have to settle for a car because I need one”.
In the end Krista’s just tired of her telling her what to do if no ones going actually help donate, or stop lying to her about what car is right for her, and then brakes down on her when she actually becomes the owner after a certain amount of months or even years. Can people just stop buying and selling cars that are a piece of crap so Krista can find a car so every one can stop saying she needs to do this and she needs to do that. I even get tired of people telling me what to do I obviously know what I’m doing from my past so that’s why I’m trying to get help. DUHH!!

Topic of Choice week 3

Improving my writing skills

College Comp has really helped me develop writing skills that I was not aware of or was not very familiar with. College comp has increased my learning skills in classifying, verbs, adjectives, conjunctions, and all the comma uses, like introductory bits, fan boys, comma splices, conjunctive adverbs, X,Y,Z, describers, and interrupters that I had no clue about, and much more. College composition is an introductory course that focuses on college writing, and the writing process. I knew college was a place to learn much more than what I have learned in high school, but its a lot of similarities between high school and college its just that the teachers in college don’t really care if you do your work or not. High school was the opposite, teachers/ professors gave you rewards if you did your homework, and that’s what drove kids to study or do there work. Parts of the writing process that I am working on to become better as a writer are sentence structures, paragraphs, and essays. Working on a lot of practice pieces in college comp will make me achieve my goals, and the semester. But my goals out of those three things (sentence structure, paragraphs, and essays) are to become better in essay structures and to improve the skills as a writer, and help me develop the strategies for writing at a college level.  As for, Mrs. Kenney being my professor my first semester in college I think I will make it through this semester, just as long as I use the proper skills.

The only thing i ever wanted was______________________.

(In a voice of a 13 year old)

The only thing I ever wanted was the newest BMW which is the X6! I love that truck soooo much. My daddy has one and it’s so cool and amazing. But the only thing is, is that I don’t have a drivers license because of course I’m not 16 yet, but my daddy said when I get to be that age I could defiantly have my own. Its like he’s gonna throw me one of those sweet sixteen shows on mtv and surprise me with the X6.I hope he really does get me that truck I love all the features its has. When I ride in my daddys truck I love riding in the front because it has those seats that make your butt burn, but in the winter its so warm. I also like listening to all my nicki minaj , lil wayne, and of my rihanna cds in the six cd disc changer, just as long as I can play my cds ill be fine. My daddy said that he thinks I should choose another car, in which I will when I get a little older but I told im I would never get tired of loving that truck. My dad said it’s too much of a manly truck because of the features it has like some type of sport package that has sport seats like the nascar drivers, maybe I should ask my brother what those are.  I don’t know. And the other awesome part about the soon to be my truck is that it doesn’t have any keys so basically I don’t have to worry about daddy yelling at me if I lose them. Soon one day well a couple of years from now I will have my dream come true, and I know it will that’s why I love my daddy.

What I expect from myself??

Well starting off in the new year of 2011, I didn’t really have a new year’s resolution because every year I kind of try and set my goals for every year or every month like any average person does. So with that being said for my second semester into college I’m kind of expecting for myself to be above a 2.0 or higher being that I was  just a tad bit away from getting my TAP or PELL taken away, but I was right where I needed to be which was at that 1.5 average. I also expect to get extra help on my studying skills, and not waiting until the last minute to figure out whom, what, when and how is everything going to fit in at a short amount of time. During the last semester last year I felt that everything was being jammed into the last couple of weeks, well only because I made it seem that way with me being stressed over the littlest things, like how would my grades go, did I get everything in on time that needed to be handed in, and getting the help I needed in order for my exam scores to come out great. I also expect out of school to work harder to get what I want in life so I plan on working more during the week then last semester that being said that I only have to attend classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and Monday nights but that’s no problem unless I teach myself how to be time manageable, which is another thing I fail at doing lol. Also having the time to sit down and do some work, and play with my son of course even though he’s the one that keeps me from doing those things sometimes, because he wants to play with me all the time but I don’t mind unless he doesn’t bug me to much, he can get out of hand with me being his horse. NOT lol. But I love him and he’s my only motivation.

Never Again Memory

October 29, 2010 I went to an Applebee’s in Brooklyn, NY. Once we were seated at a table one of our guests went to the bathroom. Then our waitress came to the table when someone from our party was in the restroom, so we decided to wait to order our beverages. After our guest came back, we waited for the waitress for 30 minutes to return, in order for us to order our beverages together as a group. When our Waitress finally returned to our table for our orders, she took the order but when it was time for everyone to get there drink she only brought one drink instead of every ones drink at the same time. And of course that took another 15-20 minutes for our orders to be placed the right way. Once the drinks came we finally got to place our order of food, no one was very happy about how long we had to wait for that. When I finally got my food ordered I specifically asked for no pickles, onions and American cheese on my well done burger. Once our food came, it had everything I didn't want on my burger. So I showed it to her she stated that she gave the cook the correct order basically pointing the finger. So when she finally came back with the correct order she seemed very frustrated and it showed throughout the night. I became very angry because my entire guests were already done by the time I received my food. So after that we asked to see a manager, when the manager came we stated everything that had happened throughout our night. He said he would talk to her about her poor customer service and performance. Once he left she came shortly after and confronted us just to tell us did we tell her manager that she provided poor service. One of the guests at our table did not like the way she approached us and started to go off on her. They argued in front of all the customers and employees. Once everything settled we left asking for the corporate number. What a bad experience that was. Huh?

When Having A Son Like Mine!

The love for my son
Having a child has really been a huge impact in my life; it hasn’t only affected my life as a whole, but my family as well. Being that he is my mother’s first grandson. Having my son really made me open my eyes to see that this would be a very important and dedicated job that I would have to maintain. However, becoming an independent mother made me also realize that I had to take care of responsibilities like working hard, going to school, and not spending as much time with friends. Becoming a great mom was my number one priority from there on in.
Working about thirty five hours plus a week is an obsession for me. I love working long hours a week, to support my son. I know that if I work as hard to get what I need for him I wouldn’t have to depend on anyone. A lot of mothers think that , they need someone to be there for them at all times, but little do they know working hard gets you to a lot of places. I even get caught up in working so many hours a week that I have to find my free time to make sure I provide the attention my son needs. Devotion and love really comes with having a child.
Because I also attend school, I often find myself being real busy, but that doesn’t get in the way of me being a great mother. I made it easier for myself by enrolling my son at an off campus daycare which is walking distance from campus. Attending a school like Finger Lakes Community College has really made it easy for me, I can attend school at the hours and days that I need to, they work around my schedule from work and quality time with my son. It’s basically a set schedule that I have every single day so I won’t become disorganized.
By me becoming a mother spending time like I used to with friends has changed a lot. I don’t go out as much, and I actually don’t spend as much money on unnecessary things. It’s been all about him, and saving as much money as possible. Now when I get invited to the mall, and to different places I could actually take him with me, they enjoy his company. Many of my friends now have become mothers them selves, and come to me for advice. They see me as a great role model.
Even though having a baby is a huge responsibility, I have taken full accountability of being prepared to raise a son of my own. It’s not only pleasurable, it’s good to know that there’s just this little body waiting for your love and affection every waking day. I’ve learned so much becoming a mother, that working long hours a week, attending college, and not spending as much time with friends has really changed the way I look at life now and days.

My Dream land

I fantasize about visiting Jamaica one day. Jamaica, a large, busy, beautiful, live island, an exciting experience for travelers.  A long strip of beaches, and pretty coves. A long-standing and now highly developed with many excellent hotels, inns and guests house, also some wonderful cool independent hotels, from old colonial classics to modern hideaways. Also a very big area of villas. Good music, strong prided locals and a live culture.

In Jamaica there are tons of interesting buildings. If you are going into the capital which is Kingston you can visit the Bob Marley Museum. They also have a Museum in Spanish Town in the old capital and you can learn a lot. Montego Bay which is a tourist destination you can find Green Grotto Cave you can find in St Ann. Also, you can find the house of the white which of rose hall and a lots of other and several other cultural buildings in Ocho Rios where you can learn a lot.
One of the reasons that people go to Jamaica in the first place is to take advantage of the year-round warm Caribbean weather. Temperatures vary very little over the course of the year and offer perfect weather for those looking to relax on the beach or have some fun in the sun.

Jamaica is within the hurricane belt of the Caribbean even though very few actually touch Jamaica. A direct hit on Jamaica by major storms does not happen often. The last major storm to hit the island was Hurricane Gilbert, which was over 20 years ago. Most often the islands will only receive the heavy rains that come on the outskirts of a hurricane avoiding the most extreme weather conditions.
In conclusion, Jamaica is the most beautiful places to be in the world. The beautiful weather to the wonderful beaches and phenomenal food.

Intellectual Beggar

Intellectual is defined as a person who places a high value on or pursues things of interest to the intellect or the more complex forms and fields of knowledge, as aesthetic or philosophical matters on an abstract and general level. A beggar is defined as to request a donation in a supplicating manner. There are few current techniques for begging which have not been used for hundreds of years, or are not based on older techniques, adapted to modern technology. Beggars rarely recorded their techniques, and often used to disguise their own communication.
When I think of a intellectual beggar I think of a student. Students can be intellectual beggars by wanting to know more than the basics or the common knowledge. A student wants to learn so one could benefit from the knowledge. Also, they would enjoy something to challenge them and make them think about problems and issues, and how to communicate with others about those issues and possibly resolve them.
Also, when I think of a intellectual beggar I think a survivalist which who is who are actively preparing for future possible disruptions in local, regional, national, or international social or political order. Survivalists often prepare for this anticipated disruption by having emergency medical training, stockpiling food and water, preparing for self-defense and self-sufficiency, and building structures that will help them to survive.
An intellectual beggar can be anything it relies upon your perspective of a intellectual beggar. It could vary from a knowledge hungry student or someone who does anything to live for another day with preparation of a anticipated disaster or emergency.
